Most schools are individual operations operated out of the instructor's home, who also sell and service equipment for the manufacturers they prefer.

In addition to the local clubs, the local schools are a good resource for information when considering flying other sites. Check the USHGA site "Where to Learn" menu item for additional schools as well as national coverage.

Most manufacturers sell their equipment exclusively through dealers and schools rather than direct to the public.

We're independent but we feel strongly about this. Major national dealers generally offer a broader selection of equipment than local schools and slightly lower prices. However, if your instructor carries the line you are interested in, we always recommend buying through them for the best advice, after sales support, and contribution to the continued health of our sport. Good local instructors are truly our rarest asset and they don't live on air and they don't charge that much more, so support them.
